Who's in Charge? Islam's Leadership Crisis

A lecture by Tamara Sonn, Ph.D., Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani Professor in the History of Islam at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University.

With wars raging in Muslim heartlands, the twin global crises of refugees and terrorism on the upswing, and the hopeful democratic thrust of the Arab Spring fading into history, it is not surprising that the world wonders where to look for effective Muslim leadership. In this talk, Tamara Sonn will provide historical background for the leadership challenges facing Muslim communities today, and will trace emerging strategies for addressing them.
