  • Fall Parking Update

    To the University Community:

As many of you know, parking capacity has been reduced in some areas due to the effects of construction activity.  We know this has caused frustration.  Please know that the total number of parking spots has not changed on campus. The following changes have been made to mitigate these impacts:

    • Area 2 employee parking was added to the north end of the Nathan Hale parking lot, which is easily accessible from Bolton Road.
    • 35-40 more Area 1 permits have been made available to those on the waiting list.

To adapt to the many changes, some have chosen to park in the South Garage.  Others have chosen to retain their Area 2 parking permits after weighing their value against higher priced options. Still others have found that they could shorten their commutes and reduce their costs by parking within the Area 3 (no-charge) section of W-Lot and using the University’s free shuttle service (Blue or Orange line) to get to their final destinations.

Regardless of the parking option chosen, we expect that your campus parking experience will improve over the next few weeks as people familiarize themselves with the locations in which parking can be found and establish their daily routines for the new academic year.
