A Dialogue/Discussion with Alexis Boylan, Associate Professor in Art History at UConn, and Emily Burns, Assistant Professor, Auburn University.

Dr. Emily Burns' research considers Franco-American artistic and cultural exchange in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and explores the ways in which American artists performed ideas of cultural belatedness in response to French expectations about American culture.

Alexis Boylan's research focus is on the visual culture of the United States from the colonial to the contemporary periods with particular emphasis on race and gender. She is curator of the Rand Exhibition at the Benton Museum and is working on an Ellen Emmet Rand Retrospective exhibition for 2018.
