  • New Associate Dean of Students

    Dear Colleagues,

It is my great pleasure to share with you that Maureen Armstrong has accepted the role of Associate Dean of Students in the Dean of Students Office. Maureen will officially take on this role leading the Dean of Students office on April 28.

Maureen’s tenure within the Division of Student Affairs has provided her with ample knowledge of our functions, mission, and ambition as a Division.  She has worked within the office of Residential Life, the Dean of Students office, and as the Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs for Division Initiatives.  This most recent role has enabled Maureen to provide strategic leadership and guidance in matters relating to Human Resources, compliance with current collective bargaining agreements, staff professional development, and curricular leadership of the SYE program.

Maureen’s professional contributions beyond UConn includes working at Keene State College and Westfield State University.  Maureen is a graduate of the University of Maine where she received a Masters of Education and Westfield State College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She has completed the HERS (Higher Education Resource Services) Program as well as the NASPA Region I Mid-Level Institute.

Maureen has been functioning as the Interim Associate Dean of Students and I am grateful to her for her service.  As she continues in her role on a permanent basis, Maureen will be asked by me to complete a thorough review of the office and determine alignment of current functions within the context of the Student Affairs strategic plan.  I look forward to her leadership in this important review.

We had a number of qualified candidates for this role.  I am grateful for the great work accomplished by the search committee under the leadership of Betsy Cracco.  I am equally grateful to all those colleagues who participated in this important selection process.

    Many thanks,

    Elly
