  • Responsible Conduct of Research Training

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) would like to remind all grant-funded personnel to register for mandatory Responsible Conduct of Research Training,  which must be completed during the course of the individual’s involvement in the federally funded project.

The Spring 2017 Schedule for Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) In-Person Training is available on the OVPR website. Click here to learn about options for satisfying the training requirement and register for training

Who needs to complete this training?

The National Science Foundation (NSF) requires responsible conduct of research (RCR) training for all undergraduates, graduates, and postdoctoral fellows who conduct research supported by NSF funds. All institutions submitting applications must certify at the time of application submission that plans are in place to provide appropriate training and oversight of the RCR training. Compliance with the requirements for RCR training is determined by Research Compliance Services (RCS) on behalf of the Vice President for Research.

Similarly, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) require that all trainees, fellows, participants, and scholars receiving support through any NIH training, career development award (individual or institutional), research education grant, or dissertation research grant must receive RCR training. This requirement also applies to all faculty, including new faculty, mid-career faculty and senior faculty, and professional and scientific employees receiving funding from these sources. Plans to meet the RCR requirements must be specified in the principal investigator’s proposal application.
