Volunteer Opportunities

  • 4/1 2017 Connecticut Science Olympiad at UConn

UConn is the Host Site for the Connecticut Science Olympiad on Saturday April 1, 2017 for CT high schools.  We need UConn student volunteers!  It’s a simple fact -- Science Olympiad would not exist without volunteers! There will be close to 600 folks on campus for this exciting event! We need help with set-up, guiding students around campus, assisting in registration, assisting the CTSO Director, helping get lunch to the supervisors and judges at the event sites and closing down for the day.  There are a few leadership positions available as well.  Set-up is Friday early evening March 31, 2017 meeting in the Chemistry building lobby – pizza dinner provided.  The actual event is Saturday April 1, 2017 from 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM – lunch provided for day long students and a CTSO T-shirt. There are many morning positions as well as a few late afternoon jobs.

What began as a grassroots assembly of science teachers is now one of the premier science competitions in the nation, providing rigorous, standards-based challenges to 7,600 teams in 50 states. Science Olympiad's ever-changing line-up of events in all STEM disciplines exposes students to practicing scientists and career choices, and energizes classroom teachers with a dynamic content experience.
