  • AVP and Chief Human Resources Officer Appointed

    I am pleased to announce that I have appointed Christopher J. Delello as Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. Chris will assume his new responsibilities on February 17th. As a key member of the UConn’s leadership team, Chris will provide overall strategic human resources vision and leadership for the University at our Storrs and regional campuses.   Chris will collaborate with the President, Provost, and Vice Presidents to develop strategies related to human capital management, diversity in recruitment and retention, leadership development, and alignment of our human resource and labor relations practices with the University’s priorities.

     

    Currently with Columbus McKinnon Corporation in Buffalo NY, Chris brings an extensive history of senior level human resources experience to the UConn community. He was formerly the Vice President of Human Resources at the Yankee Candle Company, a global consumer products and retail business headquartered in South Deerfield, MA, where he led corporate strategy on benefits, compensation, HRIS, employee health and safety, employee communications, performance management and workforce planning. 

     

    Previously, Chris worked in Hartford for 16 years in human resources at Aetna, CIGNA, and Hartford Healthcare. Chris began his human resources career at Champion International Corporation in Stamford, CT.

     

    Chris is pleased to return to UConn where he received his M.B.A. He also holds a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from LeMoyne College in Syracuse NY.
