  • 10/24 UConn Symphony Orchestra in Stamford

On Monday, October 24th, at 8.00 p.m., the UConn Symphony Orchestra will offer a free concert at the Palace Theater in Stamford. Conducted by Professor Harvey Felder and joined by violin soloist Professor Solomiya Ivakhiv, the orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto Op. 35, Schubert’s Symphony no. 8 (the ‘Unfinished'), the Coronation March from Meyerbeer's Le Prophète, and United Artists by UConn composer Kenneth Fuchs.

The concert marks the inauguration of the Ensemble in Residence Program, which has been developed by the School of Fine Arts and the Department of Music with the support of an Academic Plan grant from the Office of the Provost. This new program will bring to UConn’s regional campuses, and the communities to which they belong, opportunities to experience the artistry and creativity of outstanding student musicians, who engage with a diverse range of musical traditions in the fourteen different ensembles offered by the Music Department at Storrs. Ensemble concerts will be complemented by workshops involving local K-12 schools and other related events.

Admission is free and open to the general public. Tickets may be reserved online at palacestamford.org, or by contacting the Palace Theater Box Office at (203) 325-4466.
