  • Struggling with Depression and Substance Abuse?

Do you know a teenager or young adult who is struggling with depression and marijuana/alcohol abuse?

UConn Health is offering a new research study to investigate an integrated way of treating the combination of depression and marijuana/alcohol abuse.  All individuals will receive an evidence-based, standard treatment to address their marijuana/alcohol over 12 sessions.  If the individual’s depression does not improve within four weeks, he/she will either receive additional treatment for depression from the same therapist at UConn Health or will be provided referrals to providers in the community to treat the depression symptoms.

Individuals may qualify to participate if they are between the ages of 13-19, suffer from depression and marijuana/alcohol abuse and would like treatment for these difficulties.

There is no charge for participating in this research-based treatment program.  Transportation may be provided to and from UConn Health, if needed, to those who qualify.  Teens/Young adults may be compensated up to $175 in gift cards and parents up to $140 in gift cards for full participation in the study.
