Research, Funding, and Awards

  • 2017-18 Core Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program opens

The application for the Core Fulbright Scholar Program for the 2017-18 academic years is now open. Approximately 475 teaching and/or research awards are available for U.S. faculty and experienced professionals in 125+ countries worldwide. Please view the Catalog of Awards to review the many award offerings. Eligibility criteria, application guidelines, review criteria, as well as other resources are available on the website. There are webinars offered throughout the application season, which provide additional details about the Program and allow for audience Q&A participation. With the launch of the 2014-15 Core Fulbright Scholar Program competition, restrictions regarding previous Fulbright experiences will no longer be a prohibitive factor in applying for a Fulbright Scholar grant.  Lifetime limit restrictions that were implemented beginning in June of 2006 have now been lifted.

If you have any reservations in regards to the potential length of time spent abroad, many awards offer the option for Flex, which allows a grant to be split into two or three short-term stays abroad.

The application deadline for 2017-18 Core Fulbright awards is August 1, 2016.

The Fulbright Scholar Program is sponsored by the U.S Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Information and application forms for the traditional Fulbright program, the Senior Specialists program, and other Fulbright opportunities are available at http://www.cies.org/.
