    You are most cordially invited to this year's Gerson Irish Reading. Our reader this year is a star, and famous for her magnificent performative readings.

    Sinéad Morrissey is author of five collections of poetry: There Was Fire in Vancouver (1996); Between Here and There (2002); The State of the Prisons (2005); Through the Square Window (2009) and Parallax (2013). In 2015 Faurer, Straus and Giroux published Parallax and Selected Poems. Morrissey’s awards include The Patrick Kavanagh Award, the Michael Hartnett Poetry Prize, and a Lannan Literary Fellowship (U.S.A.). Between Here and There, The State of the Prisons and Through the Square Window were all shortlisted for the T. S. Eliot Prize. Through the Square Window was also shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Collection and winner of the Irish Times/Poetry Now Award in 2009.  Parallax won the 2013 T. S. Eliot Prize and was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Collection; and Parallax and Selected Poems has been nominated for the National Book Critics Award for 2015. Morrissey was appointed the inaugural Belfast Poet Laureate in 2013. She is currently Reader in Creative Writing at the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry at Queen’s University Belfast.
