  • Donate Old Clothes to a Good Cause

The Gender & Sexual Identity Alternative Break is hosting a clothing drive for homeless LGBTQ+ youth in NYC through the Ali Forney Homeless Shelter!

The center is requesting new AND used spring clothing items. This is the perfect opportunity to clean out your closet for the spring and get rid of the clothes that no longer fit or match your style. Additionally, childrens clothing is encouraged. Any clothes that would fit a small 12 year old to a large 20 year old will be accepted. Winter clothes are not preferred (winter gloves and heavy coats). However, anything for early to late spring will work.
    Examples of clothing items:
Good: Shirts, jackets, jeans, pants, dresses, sweaters.
Bad: USED socks or underwear, heavy coats such as parkas, ski pants.

The clothing drive is being run now through Friday 3/4. Donation bins are located in Student Union 307, Hilltop Community Center, Towers Dining Hall, Shippee, and Busby.

The Ali Forney Center is the nations largest LGBTQ+ youth homeless shelter. Started in the name of Ali Forney, a homeless gender non-conforming youth who lost his life on the streets of NYC, the center now provides housing and services for nearly 1,400 youths per year in 10 different housing sites.
