The Office of the Vice President for Research would like to recognize Associate Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Dr. Mark Urban for his paper, “Accelerating extinction risk from climate change,” which was recently published in Science (click here for full paper). The paper concludes that without emissions reductions, as many as 1 in 6 species will be extinct or on the road to extinction by the end of the century. The paper has received much attention in the media, including coverage by the AP, NY Times , BBC, The Washington Post, National Geographic, Smithsonian, and Climate Central, among other sources.
