Research, Funding, and Awards

  • 2016-17 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program for Faculty

The application for the Core Fulbright Scholar Program for the 2016-17 academic years is now open. Approximately 800 teaching and/or research awards are available for U.S. faculty and experienced professions in 125+ countries worldwide. While foreign language skills are needed in some countries, most Fulbright lecturing assignments are in English.

With the launch of the 2014-15 Core Fulbright Scholar Program competition, restrictions regarding previous Fulbright experiences will no longer be a prohibitive factor in applying for a Fulbright Scholar grant.  Lifetime limit restrictions that were implemented beginning in June of 2006 have now been lifted.  However, as stipulated in section 624.2 of the Fulbright Program Policies, general preference for Fulbright Scholar opportunities will continue to be given to candidates who have not previously received a Fulbright Scholar grant.

Core Fulbright awards are available from two months to an academic year or longer. The application deadline for 2016-17 Core Fulbright awards is August 3, 2015.

The Fulbright Scholar Program is sponsored by the U.S Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Information and application forms for the traditional Fulbright program, the Senior Specialists program, and other Fulbright opportunities are available at http://www.cies.org/.
