  • 4/23 Spring Weekend Events and Road Closures

    Spring Weekend activities will be held across the UConn campus beginning Thursday, April 23rd through Saturday, April 25th.  For a detailed schedule of all the events, please visit the Spring Weekend website.

    To accommodate some of the activities planned, there will be road closures on each of the three days.  Below is a brief summary of the road closures.  Please make travel arraignments in advance of Spring Weekend to avoid the impacted areas.

     

    Thursday, April 23, 2015

    The UConn Club Sports Council will be hosting its annual Glow up the Night 5K.  The race will begin at 8:30pm in front of the Homer Babbidge Library.  To accommodate the participants in the race, there will be several temporary road closures and limited access to parking areas.  Below is a list of the roads that will be closed during the race.  To see the race route and a summary of the parking areas, visit the Spring Weekend website.

    The following roads will be closed from 8:15pm until 9:30pm:

    • Hillside Road- between Gilbert Road and Glenbrook Road
    • Jim Calhoun Way- between Hillside Road and Husky Circle
    • Alumni Drive – in its entirety
    • Glenbrook Road – between Hillside Road and Mansfield Way
    • Mansfield Road – between Mansfield Way and Gilbert Road
    • Gilbert Road – between Mansfield Road and Hillside Road

    In preparation for an evening of Spring Weekend activities, Hillside Road will be closed to traffic beginning at 6pm.  The road closure will be from in front of the Student Union to the intersection of Hillside Road and Jim Calhoun Way.  The road will reopen at approximately midnight.  Drivers will still have access to South Garage from the northbound side of Hillside Road and Jim Calhoun Way. 

     

    Saturday, April 25, 2015

    Hillside Road will then be closed for the final day of Spring Weekend activities from 9am until approximately 6pm.  For a map of the Hillside Road closures, please visit the Spring Weekend website.
