  • 4/2 EAPondering: A Message from Employee Assistance

April marks the 29th year of observing Alcohol Awareness Month. Since 1987 the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) has sponsored a month long promotion of information and resources to educate individual adults, teens, parents and families on this important health and wellness issue. Most individuals and families remain well and healthy with moderate, social use of alcohol and appropriate use of legally prescribed medications. However, those who do become caught up in misuse, abuse and/or dependence of legal or illicit substances can suffer serious consequences involving major risks to physical, occupational, legal and personal/family health and wellness.

Check out the NCADD’s excellent website at http://ncadd.org/ for insightful articles and educational resources, all based on the most up-to-date information from science and medicine.

During the month of April Employee Assistance (EAP) will present a series of suggestions to promote healthy lifestyle choices that support personal and family wellness pertaining to substance use, misuse, abuse or dependence.

The UConn EAP provides confidential, free, professional consultation and brief counseling for faculty, staff and eligible family members to help identify and resolve problems or concerns affecting you, your family or your job.
