  • 3/11 Legacy Speaker Series Truth: Who Decides?

    Leadership Legacy Speaker Series Presents
Truth: Who Decides? with Seth Mnookin
    Wednesday, March 11th, 2015, 5:30pm
    Laurel Hall 102 Storrs, CT

The University of Connecticut’s Leadership Legacy Experience is pleased to host Seth Mnookin, author of The Panic Virus, for a discussion of truth and our society's overall sense that "truth" is a mutable concept and reality can be defined by everyone on his or her own. In light of the recent measles outbreak and fears of a vaccine/autism connection, the controversy over climate change, the continuation of the birther movement, and conspiracies around 9/11 and the JFK assassination, this event will provide an opportunity for the audience to dig deeper into the concept of rational thought and to explore some difficult and complex issues resulting from that phenomenon.

Seth Mnookin is the Associate Director of MIT’s Graduate Program in Science Writing. Seth has been a contributing editor at Vanity Fair since 2005, was a senior writer at Newsweek, and his work has appeared in numerous publications, including New York, Wired, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Spin, Slate, and Salon.com.

Admission to this event is free. All members of the community are welcome to attend.

Guided by its core principles, the Leadership Office at the University of Connecticut facilitates educational and experiential initiatives that challenge individuals and organizations to explore, strengthen, and elevate their character, leadership and ability to contribute as global citizens. The Leadership Legacy Experience is the University’s most prestigious leadership development program; through lectures, discussions and presentations, the Leadership Legacy Speaker Series offers the campus community access to renowned scholars and leaders who explore critical issues of the day.
