Additional UConn Information

  • 3/6 Service Learning Course Designation Applications

Applications for Service Learning courses to receive a designation in the PeopleSoft system are now available. We ask all faculty members who teach service learning to complete this application process to have their courses reviewed by the Service Learning Committee and recognized by students, advisors and colleagues.

Go to http://service-learning.uconn.edu/sldesignation to find the application and further information about the process. Applications are due by Friday, March 6.

In completing this application and upon receiving the service learning designation you can anticipate several benefits:

    • Students will have clear expectations of service learning activities and participation when they sign up for your class.
    • Academic Advisors will have the ability to communicate service learning specific courses with students.
    • You will have access to support from the Offices of Public Engagement and Service Learning in addition to the Institute for Teaching and Learning for your course.
    • Service Learning courses can be reported in Digital Measures self-evaluation at the end of the year under categories such as “Teaching Innovations and Other Pedagogical activities”; “Other Instructional Activities”; “Public and Community Service”; “Other Industry/Faculty Collaboration”.
    • You will contribute to a growing group of community engaged scholars.

Please consider applying for Service Learning Designation for your SL courses – and encouraging colleagues to do so as well!
