Gender & Sexual Identity Alternative Spring Break Info Session

Wednesday October 22nd, 8pm, Oak Hall Rm 267

Fight for Equality during this week-long New York City/Hartford Alternative Spring Break!

Do you want to learn about and participate in social activism and human rights? Have you been following the quest for marriage equality? Did you know that UConn is one of the only schools that offers an Alternative Spring break focused on LGBTQ activism?

This program addresses the struggles of the LGBTQ community through active community service and hands-on education. Help empower LGBTQ homeless youth, work with LGBTQ elderly, speak with lesbian and gay politicians, and meet with a variety of religious leaders to discuss LGBTQ identities and religion!

Participants will stay on the historic Christopher Street in New York City, and stop in Hartford on the way home to speak with Connecticut politicians about LGBTQ issues. The trip will then return to Storrs to volunteer at the True Colors Conference!

There will be an information session for this program on October 22nd in Oak 267 at 8pm. Stop by and learn more about the importance of LGBTQ advocacy and the organizations this Alternative Break will be working with!

Get involved with the civil rights movement of our generation. Come learn more about this chance to support the LGBTQ movement and social justice in New York City!
