Volunteer With Camp Horizons!
Are you interested in working with adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities or other special needs?
Camp Horizons in South Windham, CT can be the right fit for you! Our UConn participants volunteer during Horizon's weekends for person-centered opportunities for adults with special needs. We essentially serve as a helping hand to the professional staff, participate in the activities, and socialize with the campers. No prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is needed!
Some examples of activities we've helped with in the past include: tie dye socks, carving and painting pumpkins, making dirt pudding, playing ultimate frisbee, and making cement flower pots.
We commit to six Saturdays a semester from 1-4 PM: 9/28, 10/12, 10/26, 11/9, 11/23, 12/7. All transportation to Horizons is provided to us by community outreach. You will receive 3 service hours for every volunteer day!
