  • 9/24 "After the Fire"

In honor of Campus Fire Safety month, the UCONN Fire Department in conjunction with SUBOG will be hosting a presentation titled “After the Fire”.  Two burn survivors, Alvaro Llanos and Shawn Simons, will be telling their story of the night that changed their lives forever.  In the early morning hours of January 19, 2000, an arson fire was started on the 3rd floor lounge of a 6 story residence hall on the campus of Seton Hall in South Orange, New Jersey.  Alvaro and Shawn were roommates at the time of the fire, which claimed the lives of 3 students and injured 56 others.  Alvaro and Shawn were left severely burned and clinging for life.  Please join them on September 24th at the Student Union Theater at either 1pm or 7pm.  Each session is 2 hours.  Their story is one of survival, perseverance, inspiration, hope, courage and friendship.  The presentation will leave you with an appreciation of campus fire safety.
