Financial Aid Not Appearing on Student’s Fee Bill?

Should a student owe outstanding items, such as a Tax Return Transcript or other documents required for Verification, their financial aid will neither disburse nor appear as an anticipated deferral on a university fee bill.  Students may access the Student Administration System at http://www.studentadmin.uconn.edu to see if the Office of Student Financial Aid Services is requesting any such documentation.

Students must be enrolled for the number of credit hours upon which their financial aid was based in order for funds to disburse.  Any such discrepancies will prevent financial aid from appearing on university fee bills.

Generally, students must be enrolled on a full-time basis in order to receive most forms (e.g. institutional need-based grants, merit-based scholarships, federal work-study, etc.) of aid.

2014-15 Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Review for Students on Financial Aid Eligibility Plan

At the end of each term, our office is required to evaluate students who are currently on a Financial Aid Eligibility Plan for compliance with the University SAP policy. The Financial Aid Eligibility Plan status applies to students whose SAP appeal was approved in 2014.  The summer term review will take place on August 29, 2014.

A full description of the SAP policy and the requirements of the Financial Aid Eligibility Plan can be found at:  http://www.financialaid.uconn.edu/sap

Last Day to Secure A Work Study Job

Students that have been awarded work study are required to secure employment on or before Friday, September 26, 2014.  Students who have not secured employment by this date will have their work-study awards cancelled for the academic year.  Questions regarding this matter can be directed to the Scholarship & Student Employment unit at 860-486-3474.

Finalizing Fall Enrollment before the Tenth Day of Class

University policy requires that financial aid and scholarships are based on a fixed enrollment date (the tenth day of classes) each semester. The tenth day of classes is the last day on which students are able to add/drop credit hours via the Student Administration System. Individual financial aid awards and/or university scholarships for the semester will be based on the number of credits hours for which a student is enrolled on that date.

The fixed enrollment date for the Fall 2014 semester is Monday, September 8, 2014.  If enrollment is not finalized by this date, students will be notified by OSFAS that if the fall semester registration was finalized AFTER the tenth day of classes, he/she may submit an appeal to request reinstatement of the financial aid package (on a funds available basis).  Appeals must be received by OSFAS no later than September 22, 2014 to avoid further adjustments to the financial aid award.
