  • New Exec. Director of Community Engagement

Dear UConn Faculty and Staff –

We are delighted to announce that Katherine Grady has begun her role as UConn’s new Executive Director of Community Engagement and Outreach. She started her position in mid-January, working closely with the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Provost’s Office, and the Office of Government Relations.

Katherine serves a critical role in promoting the impact of UConn and UConn Health research, innovation, and entrepreneurship to community, municipal, and regional stakeholders throughout Connecticut. She will work to build relationships with organizations of all sizes, from state leaders in politics and industry to faith-based organizations, community groups, alumni, educators, and more. Along with external stakeholders, Katherine will also work closely with other leaders and offices of community engagement and outreach at UConn and UConn Health to build a collaborative and integrated network of engagement and outreach initiatives.

She comes to UConn well prepared for building partnerships and navigating complex organizations. Katherine served Connecticut as Director of Legislative and Community Affairs at the Department of Motor Vehicles as part of the leadership team responsible for agency modernization and effective management, and represented the agency externally to the legislature, community partners, and other stakeholders; the National Governors Association as management consultant to governors and their senior staff with a focus on the leadership and management of state government, and the organization, operation, and staffing of the governor’s office; Accenture as a lobbyist on their global government relations team representing the strategic interests of the firm to state and federal stakeholders and positioning its c-suite in business groups; and in the U.S. House of Representatives as staff to the Democratic Caucus and to Congressman John B. Larson.

Katherine earned bachelor’s degrees in International Studies and in Political Science from Miami University (Ohio).

Please join us as we welcome Katherine to UConn and wish her the best as she begins her role.

    Fondly,

    Pamir Alpay
Interim Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship

    Anne D’Alleva
