Safety, Health, and Wellness

  • 2014 Health Care Open Enrollment runs Now - June 6

During Open Enrollment, you may change medical and/or dental plans, add or drop coverage for your eligible family members, or enroll if you previously waived coverage.  You may also enroll in the Health Enhancement Program (HEP), if you have not done so already.

Any changes you make are effective July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015 unless you have a qualifying status change.

Storrs Campus Open Enrollment fair is Wednesday, May 28, 9am – 3pm in the Student Union Ballroom.

The health, dental and pharmacy carriers as well as some supplemental vendors will be attending to answer benefit questions.  The Health Enhancement Program (HEP) vendor will also be available to answer general questions regarding HEP requirements for 2014, the HEP web portal, and provide educational information regarding the HEP chronic conditions.

Please note that HEP participants with one of the five identified chronic conditions may be able to satisfy some or all of their chronic condition requirements at the open enrollment fairs. Also, some fairs will feature on-site cholesterol screenings, allowing HEP participants to immediately satisfy their outstanding cholesterol screening requirement.

    Plan Updates

Please be advised that effective July 1, 2014, Cigna will be the administrator for all three dental plans (basic, enhanced, and DHMO).  If you are currently enrolled in the Basic or Enhanced Dental Plans (currently administered by United Healthcare), your plan will not change, only the carrier.  Cigna will provide an expanded network of dentists for the Basic and Enhanced plans.

If you currently have either the Basic or Enhanced plan and  do not make a dental plan change during open enrollment your coverage will automatically default to the same dental plan type administered by Cigna.
