Looking for an ideal way for high school students to ease the transition from high school to college, strengthen their college applications, make friends with similar academic interests, gain hands-on experience, establish ties with UConn and its faculty, and become familiar with the Storrs campus?

Registration is ongoing for 2014 Pre-College Summer at UConn. This innovative program is designed by UConn's Early College Experience, which received the 2013 Provost's Award for Excellence in Public Engagement in the Program category.

2014 Pre-College Summer at UConn offers a choice of two one-week sessions, with residential and commuter options:

 

• July 27 - August 2
• August 3 - August 9

 

The full schedule will include a variety of activities. However, for their main focus, students can choose from six academic sessions taught by UConn's faculty:

 

• Sociology - Sherlock Holmes, Expert Sociologist

 

• Statistics: Big Data - Data Deluge! Statistical Analytics will help.

 

• Creative Writing - Journeys and Monsters in Essay and Poem

 

• Plant Science & Landscape Architecture - The Sustainable Living Experience

 

• Digital Media - Game Design Workshop

 

• Digital Media - Let's Make History: A Digital Humanities Workshop
