  • 11/10 Retirement Celebration for Lawrence Williams

After 47 years of dedicated service to the University of Connecticut, Lawrence (Larry) Williams retired from the University of Connecticut on July 1, 2022. Larry began his tenure in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Connecticut on September 26, 1975 as a University Educational Assistant under the direction of John W. Vlandis. Larry’s commitment to the University, particularly as it relates to the recruitment and enrollment of underrepresented students was second to none. During Larry’s employment at the University, his passion to recruit prospective undergraduate students to the University never ceased. Larry’s tenure at the University spans over four decades of serving the students and their families in the State of Connecticut in which he was very much beloved for his efforts in his hometown of Bridgeport. Larry was blessed to have found his passion early in life, working in the collegiate area helping students to fulfill their dreams of attending college, and that commitment was never like work for him.

In honor of Larry’s retirement, a celebration will be held on November 10 from 2-4 p.m. in the lobby of the Innovation Partnership Building (IPB).
