  • 10/17 Economics Society: Social Networks and Free Speech

We hope you are well! The Economics Society will be hosting its next event on October 17th from 6-7 pm in Oak Hall 337. Professor Richard Langlois from the Economics department will be talking to us about the economic implications of polarization, social networks, and free speech. His current research, “Modularity, Identity, and the Constitutional Diagonal” looks at how principles of encapsulation and information hiding operate in society as mechanisms to internalize externalities, especially in the context of large social networks like Facebook.

The Econ Society will be providing pizza and drinks, and there will be an informal Q&A session, so feel free to ask questions about anything! We hope to see you there!
