  • Human Subjects Requested for Brain Imaging Study

We are currently recruiting participants for a LANGUAGE STUDY using BRAIN IMAGING (functional MRI). To qualify you must meet the following requirements:

    • Age 18-45
    • Right-handed
    • Native speaker of English
    • No psychiatric / neurological history (such as concussion)
    • No history of disorders or delays in language / reading
    • No hearing/vision disorders
    • No metal in your body or claustrophobia
    • No known current pregnancy

Participation involves a combination of written questionnaires and MRI tasks, and takes approximately 1.5-2 hours. As a participant you will receive $12/hour, rounded up to the nearest 15-minute increment, as well as a picture of your brain (if you would like one). The principal investigator is William Snyder, Ph.D. Experiments take place at BIRC, the UConn Brain Imaging Research Center at Storrs.

There is no direct benefit to you personally from participating in this study, but an indirect benefit is that you will be contributing to scientific research into the human capacity for language. Such research may eventually lead to societal benefits, such as improved treatments for language disorders in children and adults.

For more information, please e-mail UConnBrain@gmail.com, and include a daytime phone number. A member of our research team will contact you to discuss the study.
