In this 100% online course students further develop communicative as well as intercultural competence in German. Being able to engage in dialogue with people from different backgrounds is becoming increasingly important. With the same textbook and a similar structure as in Germ 1001, this course further provides the tools for students to develop the knowledge and skills to communicate, investigate a variety of topics related to everyday life in German speaking countries, and collaboratively solve problems in German. Students will interact with each other and with speakers of German in the UConn community and beyond. Students will also interpret written, spoken and visual information and present what they learned to each other and to the wider community.

As a culminating intercultural citizenship project, students will apply their German language skills and their intercultural competence to address a problem of their choice.

This course is intended for students who have finished Germ 1001 at UConn or have previous German knowledge. Course material will be presented at the introductory level 2; the class is designed for students with diverse academic backgrounds; Student can kindly contact juntao.li@uconn.edu if they have learned German outside of UConn in order to make sure that this course matches their level at best, and ask for a permission number for the enrollment.
