Title of Study: Understanding and Supporting the Teaching Career Decision Making Process of Minoritized Students
The purpose of my study is to explore how college students of color who are considering (or have considered) the teaching profession describe the influences on their career decision. I am seeking to understand the underlying reasons for why there is a shortage of teachers of color, with the goal of potentially recommending possible solutions.
To participate in this study, you must:
(1) Be a college undergraduate who identifies as a student of color; (2) Be currently considering a career in teaching (or have considered a career in teaching in the past)
If you are eligible and agree to participate in the study:
You will be asked to complete a survey. The survey consists of five open ended questions and a brief set of demographic questions. This survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Your participation will be recorded electronically as written responses that will be analyzed to find emerging themes. Your participation in the study will be kept confidential.
You will have the option to receive a $10 Amazon electronic gift card after completing the survey. You will provide your email in a separate survey if you wish to receive the gift card.
You will be asked at the end of the survey if you would be interested in potentially participating in a follow-up interview. Participation in the interview is optional. If you are willing to participate in an interview, you will be paid an additional $25 Amazon electronic gift card after completing the interview.
