Healthcare Enrollment for New Graduate Assistants, Fellows, and Interns
Newly appointed Graduate Assistants and eligible Graduate Interns/Fellows have 31 days from their start date to enroll in or waive healthcare coverage through the Connecticut Partnership Plan. For those who enroll, coverage is effective February 1, 2022. Proof documentation (e.g., marriage certificate and/or long-form birth certificate) is necessary for any enrollment including a spouse or dependent child.
Individuals who fail to enroll within 31 days following their start date will have to wait until the next GA Open Enrollment Period (August 2022) to enroll in coverage effective September 1, 2022.
Individuals who experience a mid-year qualifying Life Event (i.e. loss of coverage from another source) must contact Human Resources within 31 days of the Life Event and submit corresponding documentation to enroll in coverage outside of the Open Enrollment Period.
Continuing Graduate Assistants, Graduate Interns, and Graduate Fellows who are enrolled in the Connecticut Partnership Plan do not need to take action; coverage will continue with current elections. Plan changes may be made during the annual GA Open Enrollment Period in August 2022 or within 31 days following a qualifying Life Event.
CORE-CT access for benefits enrollment will be available beginning on Friday, January 7th, 2022
For assistance in online enrollment, review the GA New Hire CORE Job Aid (See “New Employee – GAs” under eBenefits). Please also ensure your Address is listed accurately, as the address listed in CORE-CT is where ID cards will be mailed to.
