Please join us for the third virtual Teale lecture of the Fall 2021 semester, to be streamed live on Thursday, December 2 at 4:00pm ET.

Professor Devine-Wright has broad expertise in the fields of Environmental Psychology and Human Geography, with his research ranking in the top 1% of social science, based on his scholarly citations in 2019, 2020, and 2021 in the Web of Science. Devine-Wright conducts theory-driven research with real-world applications, ensuring that insights from social science inform decision-making on a range of environmental challenges, especially climate change. He aims to understand people’s relationships with places and landscapes, as well as understanding how the public engages with policy makers and industry, in relation to energy and environmental problems.

Dr. Devine-Wright is a lead author for the IPCC Working Group III in the 6th Assessment Round, contributing to the chapter on “Demand, Services and Social Aspects of Mitigation.” In addition, Devine-Wright is Chair of the Devon Net Zero Climate Emergency Task Force and a non-executive Director of Exeter Community Energy. He was an invited member of the National Advisory Group steering the UK Community Renewables Initiative between 2001-2006 and acted as Lead Expert to the Office of Science and Technology’s Foresight Project on Sustainable Energy and the Built Environment.

This WebEx event is open to the public and viewers may submit questions via chat during the live program.
