  • 11/1-11/5: SOH One Health Week is Next Week

    Students for One Health(SOH) is excited to host our third One Health Week on November 1st-5th! This week will be filled with fun and educational activities to bring awareness to One Health on campus. This year’s events will include a Clean Water Initiative Seminar, Epidemiology Lecture, and a DIY eco-friendly moisturizer and laundry detergent activity. We are also proud to host Nathaniel Paynter, an international water, sanitation, and hygiene expert, as our guest speaker for our hallmark seminar. Come learn about One Health and the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health by joining us throughout the week!

    We have our Bamboo Toothbrush Fundraiser. We encourage you all to purchase bamboo toothbrushes. $3 for 1, $5 for 2

    • Monday, November 1- DIY Moisturizer & Laundry Detergent Workshop 

      • Students for One Health is excited to kick off their third One Health Week with a DIY Moisturizer and Laundry Detergent Workshop! One Health is the intersection between the health of people, animals, plants, and their shared environment. Want to be more sustainable and reduce pollution on the environment? This workshop would be a great way to become more eco-friendly to sometimes make your own moisturizer and detergent!

        • Time (1 hour)- 6:30pm-7:30pm

        • Location: SU 410

     

    • Tuesday, November 2 - Election Day and Mini Terrarium and Potted Plant Decoration

      • November 2nd is Election Day! There is nothing more important than using your voice and power to advocate for the future you want, so as you head to the polls or mail in your ballots, keep in mind that politicians and government officials can fulfill our needs of wanting to live in a healthier, more sustainable environment. The future of human, animal, and environmental health depends on you!

      • Students can learn about the intersection between human and environmental health through this plant potting and mini terrarium event. This is another hands-on project for many people to partake in and enjoy! We will share the positive effects of greenery on eyesight, mood, and health. 

        • Time (1 hour)- 6:30pm-7:30pm

    • Wednesday, November 3- One Health Day and One Health Week Hallmark Seminar **HONORS EVENT**

      • November 3rd is International One Health Day! It is time to get out of our One Health bubble and talk about One Health with everybody else- particularly politicians and educators. Have you stayed in contact with your favorite primary or secondary school teacher? Does he or she know about One Health? Do you know who your community’s elected officials are? Do they know about One Health? Learn about how you can get the One Health message out into your community and leverage the major influencers in the world. Let’s make our planet healthier, together!



                                          







    • Thursday, November 4- Sustainable Food & Healthy Diet Workshop and Epidemiology Lecture **HONORS EVENT** 

      • Students for One Health is excited to host our Sustainable Food & Healthy Diet workshop and Epidemiology Lecture! One Health is the intersection between the health of people, animals, plants, and their shared environment. Do you want to keep a nutritious diet, as well as share a concern to protect the environment? Come join us to learn from RDN Johanna Eichner about how to balance a healthy diet for your physical and mental health, as well as sustainable and eco-friendly sources for your produce! 

      • For our second event, students will be able to expand their knowledge on COVID. Epidemiologist, Glahnnia Rates, will be presenting current issues regarding antibacterial resistance and COVID transmission in underserved communities. *Honors

     

    • Friday, November 5 - SOH X Knit for Nicu One Health Discussion & Knitting Night

      • Get ready to knit! Join Students for One Health & Knit for Nicu for a facilitated discussion centered around One Health. We will provide yarn! Please bring your own needles.

        • Time (1 hour and 15 min)- 6:30pm-7:45pm
