In Memoriam

  • Passing of UConn Student Meghan Voisine

It is with sadness that we share the loss of a valued member of our community, Meghan Voisine. Meghan was a second-year student from Suffield, Connecticut, a member of the School of Business, majoring in Marketing. She was admitted to UConn in the fall 2020 after spending a year studying at Seton Hall University. Meghan was a member of Women in Business and Gamma Phi Beta sorority.

At this point in time service information for Meghan is not available. It will be shared when it is available. Condolences to the Voisine family can be sent to the Dean of Students Office, 233 Glenbrook Road, Unit-4062, Storrs, Connecticut 06269-4062.

We write today to remind you of the resources available on campus. Students in need of additional support should be referred to the offices below:

In addition, information about managing grief is located on the SHaW-Mental Health website.  If you need help more immediately, resources can be accessed here.

Staff in the Dean of Students Office are available to meet with students as needed. Students needing an appointment should email dos@uconn.edu or call 860-486-3426 and request to meet with an Assistant Dean. The Dean of Students Office also offers drop-in support, Monday through Friday from 1:00pm-3:30pm, no appointment needed at that time.

This is a difficult time for the University as we navigate the many emotions people have after experiencing the loss of another community member. In addition to the sadness of this immediate incident, we are aware that tragedy may trigger our own personal histories of loss and grief. Staff and faculty are encouraged to reach out to UConn’s Employee Assistance Program if they are in need of support.

This is a difficult time for UConn and for the Voisine family.  Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Meghan’s family and friends during this difficult time.

    Sincerely,

Michael Gilbert, Vice President for Student Affairs

Eleanor JB Daugherty, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students
