    Apply to be a UConn McNair Scholar – an undergraduate research opportunity

    in STEM with year-round, multi-year preparation for graduate study!

    If you are currently a 2nd or 3rd year student, I encourage you to consider participating in our year-round Storrs campus undergraduate research experience in a STEM discipline, which also includes extensive professional development and academic writing and communication practice, as well as a full-time summer research component to be well equipped for graduate study, all with an outstanding community of peers!

    With research experiences funded by the US Department of Education, new students (our 10th cohort this January!) will begin for the spring 2022 semester until graduation.

    There are many studies spanning across CLAS, CAHNR, Business, Engineering, Nursing, Pharmacy, Education that would afford you the chance to pursue a STEM-focused research project!

    Students are eligible if they meet the following criteria:

    (a)  Among the first generation in their family to attend a 4 year college and from a low-income household (there will be a chart on the application based on family size), regardless of race or ethnicity

    OR

    (b)  Self-identify as an underrepresented racial or ethnic group in higher education, such as Black (non-hispanic), Hispanic, American Indian, Alaskan, Native Hawaiian, and Native American Pacific Islander,

    OR both (a) and (b)

    Applications are due by Thursday, 10/14 by noon + 2 recommendations by 10/21.

    Students at regional campuses are eligible to apply if they will be at the Storrs campus for spring 2022 and beyond.
