Safety, Health, and Wellness

  • June is Alzheimers & Brain Awareness Month

June is Alzheimer’s & brain awareness month. Alzheimer's is a type of dementia that affects memory, thinking and behavior. Symptoms eventually grow severe enough to interfere with daily tasks. Every three seconds someone in the world develops dementia, with nearly 50 million people currently living with the disease worldwide. According to the Alzheimer’s Association website, “the more people know about Alzheimer’s, the more action we inspire!”

June’s WELCOA Health Bulletin highlights facts surrounding Alzheimer’s, how to recognize signs of Alzheimer, and what foods to eat for optimal brain health.

To access the WELCOA Health Bulletin – “Could It Be Alzheimer’s” as well as other health and safety topics such as “Recognizing and Responding to Sepsis, Simple Steps to Keep Your Eyes Healthy, and Cutting Your Cancer Risk”, visit https://hr.uconn.edu/worklife/ and click "WELCOA Health Bulletins" under QUICK LINKS.

Be sure to check back each month for more helpful and informative bulletins.
