  • Thanksgiving Fire Safety with UCFD

In the United States, Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires, with over 1,600 fire incidents per year, according to the National Fire Protection Association.

Many of these incidents are caused by unattended or inexperienced cooking. One particular hazard that has caused a significant amount of fires is the process of deep-frying turkeys.

The UConn Fire Department collaborated with UCTV in 2019 to produce a video detailing the safety measures necessary to operate a turkey fryer safely.
