  • Apply UConn McNair Scholar in STEM - due 10/14

    APPLY TO BE A UCONN McNAIR SCHOLAR UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCHER

    Are you a second or third year STEM major intrigued to be involved in undergraduate research and considering graduate school, but not sure how to begin? You may be eligible to apply to be a UConn McNair Scholar starting this semester!

    Here are some highlights:

    • Establish a research mentor
    • Participate in research during the academic semesters until graduation and during our graduate school preparatory summer program
    • Gain professional development skillsets
    • Learn how to be a stronger academic writer, scientific presenter, and critical thinker
    • Regularly connect 1:1 with the McNair office to tackle your academic, professional, and personal goals
    • Step by step guidance on building a strong graduate school application portfolio
    • Funding for summer research and conference participation

    Due: before 12noon on Wednesday, October 14, and 2 letters of recommendation by Wednesday, October 21.

    To begin the application: click the SCHOLAR button to be able to access the entire application and all of the questions. Without clicking SCHOLAR, you also won’t be able to properly submit the application.

    Before proceeding past the first tab, check your eligibility based on US Dept of Education regulations.

    As soon as you decide you are applying, email renee.gilberti@uconn.edu a brief note that you are applying and to schedule your interview. Virtual, group interview scheduling will be finalized before October 14. All sessions will occur via WebEx.

    Note: as a first or second year student, you may also consider the McNair Fellows Program, a 1-semester training opportunity each fall semester.
