  • UConn LMSA Cookbook - Requesting Recipes

We are living in extraordinary times amidst COVID-19 and  social distancing. One of the many challenging aspects of this lifestyle adjustment can be cooking and working with food. For example, many people are now having to cook much more than they were previously, and those working long hours may be overwhelmed by the responsibility of cooking when they arrive home.

There is a phrase in Spanish that says, "El amor entra por la cocina / Love enters through the kitchen" which showcases the integral role food plays in many Hispanic cultures. Because of this, the UConn's Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) chapter has decided to compile recipes for a cookbook! We believe that compiling a recipe cookbook is a way that UConn Health can support one another through this unprecedented time. Our goal would be to release the cookbook in April.  We believe a cookbook would help alleviate the mental burden of deciding what to cook, encourage people to continue to eat as nutritiously as possible, and build a sense of community within UConn Health.

    Call for recipes!

These could be any type of recipe: simple, not-so-simple, nutritious, comfort, funny, gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, egg-free, egg-full, etc.

We are looking for recipes for any of the following categories:

    1. Breakfast
    2. Snacks
    3. Lunch/dinner
    4. Desserts
    5. 5 ingredients or less!
    6. Vegetarian/Vegan

    NOTES:

    • Please submit your recipe(s) in .docx format if possible so that it can be formattedâ and include along with the recipe:
    • The category under which you would like your recipe included.
    • The name of the creator (it's okay if it wasn't you who made the recipe because we don't intend to sell the cookbook!)
    • A personalized note about the importance of the recipe to you, any recommendations you have for variations or adjustments to the recipe, etc.
    • A picture would be great but is NOT necessary.

Please send your recipe(s) to navedo@uchc.edu by 3/31/2020.

Thank you so much for supporting one another in this endeavor, and feel free to share this email with others in the UConn Health community!
