    “Non-academic Careers in Federal Government Agencies”

     

    Presented By: Ting Wang, PhD, PMP, Regulatory Health Project Manager, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration

     

    Seminar Abstract: Dr. Wang will share her experiences over the last 8 years in exploring non-academic careers in Federal Government Agencies, including technology transfer specialist, patent agent and project manager in several government agencies, including the National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DOD) and The Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

    Q&A for students and postdocs: Immediately following the seminar, Dr. Wang will hold a Q&A session for students and postdocs to share information and address questions regarding the open interdisciplinary scientist position in the FDA Office of Study Integrity and Surveillance and opportunities and information about careers at the NIH, DoD, USPTO, and the FDA.

    Biography: Dr. Ting Wang received her PhD from the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Wang loves to work with people to transfer basic research to medical products to protect and promote public health. After one and half years of postdoc training in the National Institutes of Health, she started a career as a technology transfer specialist in the Office of Partnership and Business Development in the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC) under the Department of Navy. During her six years serving in the Department of Defense, Dr. Wang worked on government contract, patent licensing and business development and was promoted to the Deputy Director of the office. In early 2019, Dr. Wang took a position as Regulatory Health Project Manager at the Food and Drug Administration.
