On Campus Job Opportunities

  • Daily Campus Design Position

The Daily Campus is looking to hire one new designer (and possibly reserve designers) for the spring semester.

The job includes working one shift per week at The Daily Campus from 7 p.m. until roughly midnight, although you sometimes may work later (no later than 2 a.m.) depending on when stories come in and pages are finished. Designers lay out articles, headlines, photos, captions, and graphics for one section of the newspaper (News, Life, or Sports) using Adobe InDesign. There are a lot of opportunities for creativity. We also hold monthly design meetings at 4:30 p.m. on Sundays.

No experience is necessary, but we are looking for people who are flexible, willing to learn, with good communication skills and a good sense of design.

    Designers are paid $11/hour.

In order to apply email managingeditor@dailycampus.com with a cover letter explaining why you're interested and why you're qualified, your unofficial transcript, and a sample design. This sample design can be digital or hand-drawn, but should be an example of a newspaper page featuring at least two articles complete with headlines, text, photos, and captions. You can find an example here
