  • CORE-CT: Retiree Health Fund Contributions

The employee self-service portal of CORE-CT now shows the pay-period-end-date when employees began making Retiree Health Fund contributions.  This appears on the Home page directly under the Payroll section and is listed as OPEB Start Date (OPEB: Other Postemployment Benefits).

Healthcare-eligible employees hired before 7/1/2017 are required to contribute to the Retiree Health Fund for 10 years (15 years if hired on or after July 1, 2017).  If there has been no interruption in Retiree Health Fund deductions, deductions stop in the paycheck 10 or 15 years and approximately two weeks after the date shown in CORE-CT.

Each employee’s contributions to the Retiree Health Fund are monitored in CORE-CT, and the system has been programmed to close the deduction when an employee has made the required 120 (10 years) or 180 (15 years) months of contributions.  If there was any interruption in the collection of Retiree Health Fund deductions (due to, for example, unpaid leave, separation from service, refund of contributions, or enrollment errors) the date for termination of contributions will be extended by the number of months missed.

Employees are encouraged to monitor their paychecks to confirm that their Retiree Health Fund deductions have stopped at the expected time.
