  • 9/9 Avery Point Night Sky Observation

The Avery Point Astronomy Class (PHYS1020) in cooperation with the Thames Amateur Astronomical Society (TAAS) are delighted to invite you to join us for our first Night Sky Observation, this Monday, September 9th at 8:00 - 9:30 PM, at the South East corner of the lawn at the Avery Point campus, behind the library.

Weather permitting, this should be an exciting evening with moon observation, together with Jupiter and its moons and Saturn, on display. With the generosity of the Avery Point Student Government and the Avery Point Campus Operations, we acquired last year a few new gadgets (including a larger magnification eye piece for our Celestron 9.25" telescope), that for example will allow for a better viewing of the rings of Saturn.

We will start the setup at 7:00 PM at the Treworgy Telescope Room in ACD205, and you are welcome to join us and learn how to setup the digitally controlled Celestron 9.25" telescope.

The event is free and open to the public and members of the UConn community and their guests. Ample parking is available near the observation point by the lawn.
