Information for Deans, Directors, and Department Heads

  • 8/5 UConn Welcome to the Pack Module for Students

Notification from Elly Daugherty, Dean of Students and Dana A. Wilder, Associate Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion:

    Dear Colleagues:

We are committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all of our students, staff and faculty.  As part of that commitment, the University now requires that all incoming undergraduate students complete an online diversity and inclusion module.

Titled Welcome to the Pack, this video-based module provides critical information about bias, stereotyping, prejudice, microaggressions, classroom dynamics, and social media. Welcome to the Pack is designed to help students better understand how vitally important these issues are to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment and to express our community expectations.

This program will be required for all incoming students.  It will be available starting August 5, 2019 and will remain accessible until September 9, 2019.  A transcript hold and a registration hold for Spring 2020 courses will be in place until a student earns a 80% on the post test.

    -       If you wish to view the program, it is available at https://studentsuccess.org/DEMO/uconn.  You will need to enter Access Code: uconnwttpdemo

    -       Please note that this link is strictly for demonstration purposes and must not be given out to students.  On average, students completed the program in roughly 60 minutes.

We thank you in advance for your attention to this new requirement for our students.  We are becoming a nationwide model for a campus committed to diversity, equity and inclusion through this module and our other University-wide efforts and resources.  Thank you for being an important part of that effort.
