Student Speaker Competition!
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is excited to announce the fifth annual Student Speaker Competition for the CLAS undergraduate commencement ceremony. Two graduating students will be selected to present remarks on behalf of their fellow graduates at one of the two CLAS commencement ceremonies that will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2019.
Students who are interested should submit a typed manuscript of their speech, which should be no longer than 5 spoken minutes (~750 words) to alldnof@uconn.edu. Your email should include your major, NetID, and ceremony participation. Submissions will be accepted until noon on Thursday, March 28th.
The student speaker committee, which will include faculty, staff, and students from CLAS, will review all submissions and select students to present their speeches to the committee, as if they were giving it on commencement day.
After the committee has heard the speeches, they will select two students to speak at commencement, and name one alternate. Selections will be made no later than April 15th.
