  • InsurTech & Life Sciences Initiatives

CT Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation is offering two initiatives to this year to provide learning opportunities for high performing graduate and undergraduate students.

    InsurTech Initiative

Are you fascinated by the world of InsurTech? This InsurTech Initiative was created in collaboration with the University of Hartford and funded by the CTNext Higher Education Grant. This program was designed to foster talent and grow the next generation of entrepreneurs within the InsurTech industry. Students will learn the fundamentals of the rapidly changing insurance industry and will receive hands-on experience working with new InsurTech business ventures via two mains paths; the InsurTech Venturing course and the InsurTech Fellows Program, both working within each other to increase opportunities for growth and strengthen entrepreneurial skillsets.

The InsurTech Venturing course is a weekly 3-credit course that goes beyond your average class lectures and discussions. Students will gain a real-world perspective of the InsurTech industry by hearing from a wide variety of industry experts and getting practice in developing their own InsurTech ventures. The InsurTech Fellows Program is a year-long program featuring six main components; the InsurTech Venturing course, Experiential Learning with the Startupbootcamp Accelerator Program, mentorship by industry experts, opportunities to network, an optional paid summer internship and a concluding project. Students will receive a scholarship of $4,000 for their participation. An online application must be submitted before registering for the course.

    Entrepreneurship Life Sciences Initiative

Are you interested in life science entrepreneurship? As apart of the Entrepreneurship Life Sciences Initiative, CT Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation is offering a 3-credit Biomedical Entrepreneurship course in Fall 2019. This is a multi-disciplinary course across the School of Business, Engineering, Medicine and College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. This is open to all students at the graduate or undergraduate level. Students will gain experience addressing real life clinical issues by offering technical solutions and creating business models that will further develop entrepreneurial skill sets. Taught by industry experts, students will learn the fundamentals around creating a new business or venture within the realms of life sciences. An online application must be submitted before registering for the course.
