  • 2/1 Snow Queen Presented by Puppet Arts

    The UConn Puppet Arts Program and the Department of Dramatic Arts present Legend of the Snow Queen by Leslie Dame and Matt Sorensenadapted from Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale, The Snow Queen, on February 1st at 7:30 pm, February 2nd at 11 am, 2 pm, and 7:30 pm, and February 3rd at 11 am and 2 pm at the University of Connecticut Studio Theatre in the Drama/Music Building, 802 Bolton Road, Storrs, CT.
     
    Legend of the Snow Queen is a story of friendship, magic, and adventure that celebrates compassion and high epic fantasy. A formidable journey is undertaken by a young girl named Gerda to save her friend Kai, who has vanished mysteriously. Through a chance meeting with a strange old woman and an enchanted sword, Gerda ventures into a magical world. She is allied with a misfit group of creatures who help her to harness the power of her own unique gifts. Gerda faces the Snow Queen and embarks on a dangerous adventure that leaves her forever changed.
     
    Legend of the Snow Queen is adapted, designed, and directed by UConn Puppet Arts MFA candidate Matt Sorensen and features UConn Puppet Arts students Felicia Cooper, Esme Roszel and Tracy Becker. The lighting design is created by Matt Lazarus, and an original score has been written by Lucky Cerruti.
     
    This puppet performance is appropriate for all audiences. No reservations are needed. Please be aware that seating is limited. A donation to Windham Area Interfaith Ministry (WAIM) is suggested at the door, in lieu of an admission charge.
