  • 100 Years of Women Scholarship

The 100 Years of Women Scholarship Fund was established in 1992 to honor a current matriculated UConn student or a high school senior planning to enroll in the University of Connecticut who, as a role model or advocate, has advanced the role and contributions of women in society.  Applicants must be enrolled for the entire Fall 2019/Spring 2020 academic year.

The mission of the Women’s Center is to educate, advocate, and provide support services for the achievement of women’s equity at the university and within the community at large.  Special attention is focused on, but not limited to, women who face additional challenges due to their race, ethnicity, socio-economic class, sexual identity, religion, age, and physical or mental ability.

More specifically, we promote an anti-racist feminist perspective which includes an analysis of the intersectionality between various forms of oppression; challenges the power structure/status quo that reinforces inequality based on race and gender simultaneously; and foregrounds the understanding of how racial discrimination complicates a concentration only on gender discrimination.

To apply, the applicant must complete and submit an application form, including an unofficial transcript, resume or curriculum vitae, and two letters of recommendation from individuals who can comment on their commitment and service to women’s issues.  Application forms are available at the UConn Women’s Center (Student Union, Room 421) or the Office of Student Financial Aid Services, located in the Wilbur Cross Building.
