UConn Physics Colloquium
“Science at High Energy Density
and Work of the American Physical Society”
Prof. Roger Falcone
Department of Physics
University of California, Berkeley
and
2018 President of the American Physical Society
Materials taken to extreme densities and temperatures exhibit unique properties due to changes in electronic structure. I will describe experiments, done at facilities that use the world’s highest energy lasers and x-ray lasers, to excite such materials and probe their properties.
At the end if this talk I will focus on the work of the American Physical Society, in publishing, advocating for science, and reaching out to broader communities.
