  • Winter Medical/Public Health Service Trip to Ghana

    Interested in Community Service Abroad?

Come to Ghana with Global Brigades this January!  During this trip you will be able to triage patients, shadow in-country doctors, educate communities in public health, help build sanitary stations, and step out of your comfort zone.

Why go on a service trip with Global Brigades (GB)?

GB is a unique nationally student-run organization that focuses on sustainability of the communities it works in and uses a holistic approach in helping communities to make sure they are getting what they specifically need. GB works with these communties until they are SElF-SUSTAINABLE so they can grow as a community. They do this by setting up online health records, training in-country staff to provide year-long support, and encouraging the importance of health insurance to those who do not have it.

    Details of the trip?

The brigade is set for the week after New Years day in January before we return to school. It will be run by Anna Vaeth and Jensena Moner, both of which have experience travelling to Ghana with GB before. We've also been on an additional Brigade with GB to Central America so we know the ins and outs of travelling abroad. If this would be your first time leaving the US don't be afraid because we are here for you!!

This trip will have a three-day medical clinic portion and two public health days. The trip cost will be roughly $2,000 which includes airfare, lodging, transportation, food, and includes the medical supplies we bring to the country. We plan on holding fundraisers and raising as much as we can for the trip! We also will be having weekly meetings to prepare you for your time abroad.

    How do you Apply?

The application is a Google form posted below and is due this Sunday Sept. 23rd by midnight! The application includes several open response questions but shouldn't take too long to fill out.
